Industry Classification

NAICS

North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes are six digit codes used to identify businesses. Agencies use these codes to collect and organize business data. To learn more about NAICS go to the Understanding NAICS codes page available from the Census Bureau's Economic Census pages or explore the resources available from the NAICS Association website (see link below).

SIC

Standard Industrial Classification codes are four digit codes used to classify industries according to their primary activity. Though SIC codes are being replaced by NAICS codes, SIC codes are still used by some agencies to classify information and data about companies. To search or browse SIC codes you may consult the SIC online manual available from the U.S. Department of Labor OSHA site:
