SUMMARY: AES Nā Pua Makani North Shore Wind Farm is attempting to erect eight wind turbines in Kahuku. These turbines are much taller and closer to homes than the existing wind turbines. Community members and activists oppose this project for various reasons such as physical health problems and the endangered ʻōpeʻapeʻa or Hawaiian hoary bat. As of January 2020, AES has installed the wind turbies.
